Why we love Gull Lake:

Looking for a little adventure to go with your lakefront retreat?  Look no further than Gull Lake!  As the second largest lake in southwest Michigan, this 2,030 acre lake boasts an average depth of 70 feet and a maximum depth of 110 feet, making it the perfect escape for sport fishing, sailing, and even freshwater diving!  Its welcoming waters are known for their size, depth, and clarity, while the natural surroundings are known for their lush, wooded feel and natural wetlands.

This large, action-packed lake is part of both Kalamazoo and Barry Counties, perched between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek (both just a little over 10 miles from the lake) with convenient access just 10 miles north of I-94.  Gull Lake is also home to one large island on its south end and its shoreline is fully developed with a ring of beautiful homes and cottages.

Ready for some underwater exploration?  Gull Lake’s clear waters have made it a local freshwater scuba diving hotspot, with a literal treasure hunt of artifacts for divers to uncover and enjoy (including everything from a car and a motorcycle… to a phone booth!)

Rather stay above water?  This large lake is the proud home of a local yacht club, featuring sailboat racing on weekends!  Even if you don’t plan to set sail, you can still enjoy the sweeping views as boats race across the crystal lake at sunset.  It’s also home to a notable sports fishery, filled with Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Land-locked Salmon, Smelt, Smallmouth Bass, and Yellow Perch, with smaller amounts of Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, and Northern Pike.

Many Gull Lake residents enjoy membership at the Gull Lake Country Club, with its busy social scene and waterfront activities, from golf to tennis and even private beach parties.  Nearby in the village of Richland, you’ll find delicious eateries like Mission Pointe, or enjoy crafting your own farm-to-fork favorites with fresh, locally sourced produce from the nearby Richland Farmers Market.
